Thunderbird Defend is a 6 week Self Defense Course that is designed to provide a foundation of basic reality based self defense skills . Our mission is to help you build self confidence , gain knowledge and practice avoidance and defense techniques to survive should you encounter a violent or dangerous situation. When the body is in fight or flight mode you will only be able to perform SIMPLE, BASIC moves with the main goal being SURVIVAL. Not everyone has the time or the desire to take up a traditional martial arts program.
We believe in taking the most effective techniques from multiple martial arts programs such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga, Kickboxing, Boxing and wrestling and integrating them in our curriculum. In order to defend yourself you need to be prepared for an attack in as many situations as possible. In our program we have added verbal role playing scenarios that allow you to practice de-escalation tactics under pressure.

In our 6 week course you will be taught:
* Verbal Self Defense aka Verbal Jiu Jitsu. Boundary and Assertiveness Role Playing
*Basic warm up movements that prepares and conditions the body for training
*Basic upper body strikes and defensive Blocks
*Basic escapes and defenses from common grabs and holds (for example escaping the grab from behind and what to do if someone is grabbing you by the hair)
*Basic escapes and defenses to common ground attacks like being threatened with a sexual assault or being pinned down.
*Live drills and role playing with partners for positions covered. Live drills give you an idea of how you will react under pressure and we believe they are critical in training self defense.
What to wear?
Athletic Clothing such as spats, sweat pants, shorts, t shirts, dry fit shirts.
Please no tank tops or loose fitting clothing. No Jewelry.
